You should quit if you’re stressed, unhappy with your job, or find the working conditions unfavorable.
In the midst of the pandemic, my wife had to leave her job because of unfavorable working conditions. Was quitting the best option for her when my own music career also took a hit during the pandemic, and I have a 7-year-old at home?
She was torn between continuing or looking for another safe job as fear and panic surrounded this lethal virus. When she came to me for advice, I told her, “Quit” and join my company.
It was because I had been working on a side project for the last decade and made it my full-time job during the pandemic.
As the ecommerce business grew and profits increased, I hired my wife to work on some core operations. We were in a good space, had gained traction, and our profit and revenue were increasing. These factors contributed to her decision to quit.
Now I am going to encourage you to consider these points if you decide to quit.
Step 1: Start a side project.
It could be a passion project, a hobby, or a new skill you are trying to explore. Just get started.
Step 2: Save 6 months of salary.
Reduce all unnecessary expenses and save for six months of salary. Put this money to work in the short term to earn interest. Don’t let it sit around.
Step 3: Optimize for profits.
You should learn to optimize your sales of your products and services as soon as you start making money. It will help you make a wise decision when you have to quit.
We used these strategies.
This can be your starting point so that you can finally free yourself from the 9-5 job. Having a clear vision and roadmap before quitting is empowering.
