We’re obsessed with the ‘once more phenomenon,’ and that also applies to you and the music you’ve made. After the song is composed and is out for the world to crucify or glorify, you would want to hear it over and over again.
Hear it again for good times, for picking faults, for improvising, for an ego drive, or just for a kick. Stop right there; what’s done is done — move on. Forget it, shun it, start work on your next. Don’t get back to what you’ve done, and hype yourself, criticize yourself, compliment yourself.
Just leave behind your works and keep making music. More music. Let the world scavenge into the song; it’s not your job. Don’t justify, don’t comment. It’s not worth it.
