The only thing we need is nothing.
No new gadgets, feelings, thoughts, emotions, experiences.
Nothing, we need nothingness.
Just being where you are and doing nothing, feeling nothing, seeing nothing.
This is state the ancient yogis and gurus aspired to be in.
They didn’t have a fraction of the distractions we have, yet they found it daunting and took them years of practice and consistency to get into this state of nothingness.
So why is this nothingness important ?
It’s from this state that you start to reflect and review all things happening to you. And this state is what enables you to make things happen through you.
And when this shift happens, you become more content and slow. Nothing can stimulate you anymore, because you need nothing.
How to practice this - nothingness ?
-
Sit quietly in a place of your comfort and silence.
-
Start with 5 minutes, then 10, then a 20 and then keep expanding this time of utmost discomfort and distraction and push yourself to hit the hour mark.
-
Once you get there your monkey mind should have nothing to say and might sit on your shoulder and zen out.
It’s tough, but NOTHING good come easy.
