I was being interviewed on the same topic, and I had a simple answer – stay away from what you do – for long!
That is – if you’re a sound engineer mixing a song and you’re just not getting it right, put the project away, work on something else, or stay away from work – completely.
Get back to it after a break, and your perspective just gets better, your ideas start free-flowing, and so do the juices – creative, that is.
