Walking on a busy market sidewalk, I came across this small bookshop. I stepped in to find a small girl who was accompanying her mother at the counter of the store. She was reading some ‘intellectual’ book through her thick soda glasses.
I browsed through the store to find all the books available in Crossword, Landmark, Flipkart, or any other posh bookstore in the world.
There was a sense of warmth in there, and I felt the arrangement of the books was similar to the ones at my home. Very welcoming.
I ended up picking five books and one small pocketbook kept right at the cash counter.
As I placed the books on the counter, the little girl got amused by the quantity and, in an astonished tone, said, “Mama Mama, so many books…”
I smiled, paid, thanked them, and left—with a huge smile on my face.
I felt good making that little girl happy.
The books I picked up are going to be a delight to read—thanks to this experience.
This experience makes me want to walk into that small music shop that’s trying to survive in this ‘connected’ world. I want to pick music—lots of music. Support that store.
Make someone happy—again.
