If you’re not good at it, accept it – don’t fake it.

Performing live is an art; miming is a gimmick.

Today, you watch television shows and live performances where musicians, bands, and singers blatantly mime on stage.

They fear that they will not be able to replicate what they’ve done in their recorded material. They want to live up to the hype of an after-show comment: ‘the show was kickass.’ They seamlessly go on faking their music, staging their music, under the assumption that the audience is too easy to fool.

How about owning up to the fact that you’re not good at it? Or trying to perform live, take the feedback and criticism. It’ll help you become a better live musician.
