Social engagements are usually places for low-energy talks.
Everyone complains, shares what’s troubling them, how their maid messed up, or how bad the traffic is, or how bad the weather is—all low-energy talks. Before you know it, everyone’s competing in the “My Life Is Worse” Olympics.
If you’re not aware of these low-energy chats, you’ll get sucked in and join the party.
Unknowingly, you stoop low and engage in these miserable connections, bonding over shared negative experiences - even though you have better things to talk about.
I have learned it’s best to avoid such conversations. Instead, ask questions that need reflection and introspection to answer.
Not necessarily philosophical or spiritual, but something to uplift the otherwise templated way of living, reacting and responding.
If I know the audience is too immature for this, I just prefer to remain quiet.
But not engage in this misery fest.
