Good-hearted people need to stop being dumb.

Dumb means saying things without thinking, escaping all the time, and unknowingly fooling around in a professional setting to make people question your character.

This type of behavior often targets those with kind hearts. I too suffered from it.

Why do they do stupid things more often?

They live a loose lifestyle. They have limited life experiences and concepts. Since they haven’t lived the tough life, they may not hold any strong values for themselves.

They only know how to be good. Thus, people hire them or collaborate with them only to realize their good-hearted nature is their greatest enemy. Their goodness, stupidity, and soft approach to everything give them a sloppy, unprofessional image.

Ignoring them outright isn’t an option. They should be protected but also upskilled.

I used to be a kind-hearted guy. But with some help, I learned how to be tough. And here’s how I’ve been helping these good souls.

Introduce them to life-changing resources and materials if you want to help them. For example, books, podcasts, and courses that will broaden their horizons.

Instead of asking them to change who they are, guide them to build stronger foundations around who they are. Let them determine what their core values are.

Having a good heart and being kind to others attracts good people. Being sharp, however, is also crucial to success. Upgrading your skills can help you stand up to opportunities and obstacles. This can be achieved by challenging yourself with situations that force you to reevaluate your beliefs. Having a mentor can also help you think differently.

Avoid being good-hearted but dumb.

Instead, be sharp, inspiring, and good-hearted.
