Last week, when I was in Kochi with a cinematographer who was explaining the nuances of a camera that I recently bought, he made a remark: “Your first 10,000 pictures are going to be your worst.”

After a grin and a pause, he handed the camera back to me and continued, “After that, you might have some good clicks.”

That’s exactly what happened to the music I produced when I started a few years back, which led me to this phase.

You ought to go through those 10,000…

– minutes for making that one song
– words for getting the lyrics of a song right
– hours for mixing to get the mix right

Well, those of you who’ve crossed that mark, dig out the old stuff from that 10,000-something and – recreate, reprise, relive!

“The 10,000-Hour Rule: The idea that it takes roughly 10,000 hours of practice to achieve mastery in a field.”
~ Malcolm Gladwell in his book “Outliers.”
