Hype is short-lived.
Audiences forget hype and move on to the next.
They don’t lack taste; it’s just that mass and hype-laden content is being pushed upon them.
A creator can abstain from manufactured hype.
Audiences are blinded by hype. Their judgment becomes clouded. Your creation is compared to something else they are glued to. If it does not resonate with them, you are replaced with something more hyped up.
Something that I have been practicing is getting better at your craft.
Focus on your work backed by a vision. Your work will then speak for itself. There will always be something special about your work that echoes silently in the mind of the audience. This creates an unease and a desire to discover you. When they invest in the core of who you are, they will cherish your work and your life.
As a creator, you should strive for such a moment of recognition.
After people jump off the hype wall and discover you here, they become your lifelong friends and admirers. Staying off this hype wall has also built my career. It’s less crowded here. This is a place free of expectations and comparisons. There is no race, no benchmark, no boundaries. The rules here are your own. This is the place where a legacy is built.
Take a look around; some of the world’s best creators live beyond this wall of hype.
