Do I need music theory or native practice to make great music?

Depends on where your weakness is. For me, theory was never the unlock - instinct was. I tap into intuition first, and use theory only when intuition needs a vocabulary. If you’re already intuitive, theory will sharpen you. If you’re already trained, learn to feel. The answer is always whichever one you’re avoiding.
