Lijo Jose Pellissery
Lijo Jose Pellissery is a filmmaker from Kerala, who has made critically acclaimed, technically notable films like Nayakan and City of God. Lijo has been instrumental in bringing a phased change in a few (not-so-noticable) departments in Malayalam films.
Nayakan was my debut film as a music composer, and he was really kind in letting me score with utmost freedom. Its through Lijo that I learnt the art of scoring for a film, scoring for the story, scoring for the character and not scoring for the producer of the film or the cliched masses.
He shares the same uberkewlness as Bejoy and has this uncanny knack of choosing songs or background pieces. The ever sharp dog-eared Lijo has his radar for the smallest sounds in a song / soundscape, which is visually choreographed in the most innovative way.
Just like with Bejoy, I’m confident some of my best works will be for a Lijo Crazy Cinema!
